Tristhāna - the foundation and heart of Vinyasa (Experienced)
27 June 2026 - Levenshulme, UK
Stewart has been teaching Vinyasa Krama for over 25 years and has seen it develop to become the most popular and practised Yoga in the world today. As the majority of taught classes globally today are sequenced classes it is important to look deeper at the heart of the practice.
This practice will explore the three practical places that are central to the concept of how the “three become one” in the practice of Vinyasa Krama.
This ‘joining or linking mechanism” and the concentration required to one pointedly place the body into a special place step by step is an ideal form of karma. This process of bodily change while practising ekā-gratā (single pointed intention) is the gateway to a mind which was free from fluctuation. Subsequently, it possible to establish a conscious intention and remain aligned to it without distraction and it becomes effortless, truthful and graceful while you experience Vinyāsa.
The essence of Vinyāsa is the ability to perceive changes within a sequence physically, mentally and spiritually when you make conscious movements connected to breath and intention. Therefore, you gain the ability to be free from the illusion of duality by realising changes from moment to moment and experiencing the present and the true self.

Tristhāna: The Heart of Vinyasa
Mission, London
Sunday 31st May: 3.30-5.30pm
Sunday 9th August: 1.00-3.00pm
Friday 9th Oct: 6.00-8.00pm
A series of three workshops exploring the foundational elements of Vinyasa practice: breath, bandha and drishti — the three points through which practice becomes integrated. Each workshop can be taken individually or as a complete series.
The Series
Modern yoga is often taught as sequence. These workshops returns to the method.Rooted in the Mysore tradition, these workshops explore Tristhāna – the principle that breath, body and mind are not separate, but unified through practice. Rather than adding more, we refine what is already there.
Each workshop combines āsana, prāṇāyāma, mantra and meditation, with hands-on adjustments and philosophical context drawn from Stewart’s decades of study and teaching.
Workshop 1: Breath
Breath is the foundation. This workshop looks at the role of breath not just as a technique, but as the organising principle of practice, or the thread that connects movement, attention and internal rhythm. When breath leads, practice changes.
Workshop 2: Bandha
Bandhas are often misunderstood. This workshop explores the subtle engagement of physical, energetic and mental locks — not as force, but as intelligent containment and direction of energy.Without bandha, practice dissipates. With it, it becomes integrated.
Workshop 3: Drishti
Where you place your gaze shapes your mind. This workshop focuses on drishti (or the discipline of attention) and how it influences stability, clarity and presence within practice. To see clearly is to practise clearly.
Why this all matters:
In a landscape of increasingly diluted interpretations of yoga, this series returns to a direct, somatic and lineage-based approach. It is not performative, nor is it decorative.Practice as it was intended to be: precise, embodied and whole.
Tickets
£40 each or £110 for all 3

These weekend of XL classes are traditional vinyasa yoga classes that have a wide range of practices however the essence of all is tristhana.
Unlike western invented vanity and fake interpretations of yoga, they are free from modern gimmicks and are based on original teachings from India.
As the majority of taught classes globally today are sequenced classes it is important to look deeper at the heart of the practice.
These four XL CLASSES EXPLORE the three practical places that are central to the concept of how the “three become one” in the practice of Vinyasa Krama.
THEY ALL include asana, pranayam, mantra and meditation along with experienced hands on adjustments and are instilled with Yoga philosophy from a learned and experienced teacher who has studied Yoga to MA and PhD level.)Each session will focus on:
1. Breath
The first of the three places in Vinyasa is breath and this session looks at the significance of the most important part of practice and life!
2. Bonds
Locks or taps? The second necessary aspect of Vinyasa is the necessity of engaging all three physical, mental and spiritual bonds in practice.
3. Seeing
The gaze has many profound effects within the Vinyasa Yoga practice and the fixation of this is the subject of this class.
4. All three become one!
Tristhana is a central element of all vinyasa practices!
